Frequently Asked Question: Why don't you use recycled plastic to protect the environment?

Answer: The fact that ANEL plastic products are made of 100% new and virgin plastic material does not mean that our company is not characterized by environmental awareness and ecological practices, which we do follow in the stages of our production as well as in the management of our waste.

But our products aim to:

- Be used for many years, to be a tool for life.
- Come in contact with honeybees and their products which in the end will be consumed by humans in order to preserve their good health.

Recycled / regenerated plastics have been found to leave residues when they come in contact with food due to the chemicals used to regenerate them. For this very reason, all our products always come - from the beginning of our company - from 100% virgin plastic material, as we do not intend to risk the health of the final consumer but also the reputation and viability of the businesses of our partners and their customers (traders and beekeepers).

This is also the reason that some of our products may be more expensive than similar ones of other companies or may be subject to periodic price fluctuations depending on the price of plastic raw material in the global market.

The product consists of an outer layer of polypropylene (PP) which contains inside strong polyurethane (PU) insulation. This insulation is the same technology as the one used by your refrigerator. Polyurethane enters as a liquid inside the product and then solidifies, taking the form of a hard foam that fills the entire interior of the product. This provides excellent living conditions for the bees (cool summer, warm winter) and helps them maintain their desired temperature inside the hive without being stressed and expending large amounts of energy. According to our measurements to achieve the same insulation with wood you will need 7cm thick wood.
